The Food Institute at Butler Health System

About

The Food Institute at Butler Memorial Hospital is a service based on physician referral. Patients who screen positive on the Hunger Vital Signs survey are referred to the Food Institute, where they receive nutrition education, cooking demonstrations, and ten meals to feed a family of four each month for six months. Clients who do not have the utensils or other tools to prepare demonstrated meals are given those utensils as well. The purpose of the Food Institute is to educate referred clients about the positive health outcomes of consistent and balanced nutrition. All of these services are free to clients.
